# Is Your Gym Marketing Showing What Members Really Care About?

 October 1, 2026

When promoting a health club, it’s easy to focus on the obvious things: equipment, facilities, opening hours and price.

But are these really the things that make someone choose one club over another?

Increasingly, people are looking for more than somewhere to exercise. They want somewhere they feel comfortable, somewhere that fits into their lifestyle and somewhere they’ll actually enjoy visiting.

## Sell the Experience, Not Just the Equipment

Most prospective members expect a gym to have treadmills, weights and changing rooms. Simply listing these facilities doesn’t necessarily give them a reason to choose you.

Instead, think about the experience your club offers.

Do you have a particularly friendly team? A strong community? Great classes? A pool and spa where members can relax after training?

These can be much more compelling than another photograph of an empty gym floor.

## Let Your Members Do the Talking

Member testimonials are one of the simplest ways to bring this to life.

A real member explaining why they enjoy coming to your club can often be more persuasive than a professionally written advert.

Short videos, photographs and genuine quotes can also help prospective members picture themselves at your club.

## Show People What It Feels Like to Be a Member

Your marketing shouldn’t just answer the question, “What facilities do you have?”

It should answer:

**“Why would I enjoy being a member here?”**

Get that message across and you give prospective members a much stronger reason to come and see the club for themselves.
